Relax, How God is in Control

What Does The Bible Say About God Is In Control?

I want to be completely transparent. I’m struggling to believe this at times with my mind, heart, and soul. It can be difficult to say I trust God because you’re in control.

However, this being said, when you don’t see your circumstances changing doubts can come rushing in no matter how much you try to push them away. Let me give you a rundown on not relaxing although I know to relax God is in control.

My ears have been bothering me more so than usual lately and for the last three weeks my left ear which is the worst of the two has been giving me a fit and it’s been keeping me from sleeping.

My left ear is the one I’ve had about eight injections due to Meniere’s and Vestibular issues. I have constant pressure, ringing, and roaring, that never goes away, and the doctors will say after a while I won’t even notice it. This is an ongoing issue since 2010 and it can get the best of me at times.

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

When you release your control to God only good things will come to you. Even when something seems ongoing, it will come together for your good and God’s glory. This is biblical and I know this. However, being human and flawed I fall short much too often.

Be Still And Know That I Am God

First and foremost the Bible states numerous times “Be still and know that I am God” which helps to remind you the most that God is in control.

Worrying can also lead born-again believers of Jesus Christ on the path of unshaken faith in the unchanging God. God can turn all of your obstacles into miracles and pains into gains.

Not only this but your struggles can also lead non-Christians to God through Christ Jesus. This reason in and of itself should remind you to not look at your circumstances as worldly but eternally.

When life is hard and God seems distant what do you do?

For a while now I’ve been having pain that I’ve never felt before and it feels like I’m being stabbed repeatedly over and over.

It isn’t constant thank God but it brings me to tears which is rare for me because I have a very high pain tolerance.

I had one of my PAs where I work to see how it looked and they suggested that I should see my ENT Specialist. I made an appointment with my PCP instead because I figured I would just need antibiotics and didn’t want to drive an hour away.

I’m already having this issue with my ears and if you know anything about me you are aware I have major allergies and animals our one of many things that affect me. So let me state the obvious a zoo is full of animals.

Consequently, I am also allergic to grass, trees, and pollen. Yep, those things surround a zoo also. By the time we got halfway through the zoo, I started sneezing my head off and I was struggling to breathe.

Underneath my eyes were black and looked like my bags had bags on top of each other and it wasn’t pretty. Trust me, I have pictures as proof, and no I’m not sharing them. Lol

What’s my dilemma?

See the thing is I didn’t want to let my family down especially when they were having so much fun and I didn’t want to be Debbie downer and ask if we could leave.

In all honesty, I feel like I’m keeping my family from enjoying the activities they love already. I do not want to do that!

God is in control of everything

What do you do when you have more questions than answers? I know to rest in the fact “God is in Control” but sometimes I question God such as…

  1. Why does it have to be this way, God?
  2. Why can’t this be different, God?
  3. Will I ever get to enjoy life the way I use to, Lord?
  4. Why can’t you take it away, Lord?
  5. What are you trying to teach me, God?
  6. Haven’t I learned all you want me to by now?

Christians Are not promised an easy life On Earth

You must stand firm knowing the Christian life does not automatically mean life will be easy. God’s word never promises an easy life when you choose to follow Jesus.

However, God does promise that He will be with you through it all.

Trust me, if you give Satan an inch he will take a mile. Satan being the deceiver will flood your mind with nothing but lies. Lies of the devil can leave you feeling defeated if you are not careful.

Satan knows how to prey on your vulnerabilities. Most of the time my reply is, I’m doing OK or I’m alright and I try to be a positive person regardless of my circumstances.

I don’t want to feel like I’m complaining when I know for a fact I could be having it much worse than I do.

My church likes us to arrive thirty minutes before worship service so we can engage with our fellow brothers and sisters and they also like for us to find someone we may not recognize and have them sit with us. It’s all about extending the same Love, that Jesus Christ has shown us.

However, I don’t want to go at that time and want to arrive just a couple of minutes prior so that way I don’t have to discuss “How I am doing!”  I know they mean well it’s just easier to dodge it altogether.

Even during service this weekend a dear Sister and Friend asked me point-blank, “How are you doing?” I looked them in the eye and replied I’m doing OK.

I think they saw right through that response but they didn’t question me. This is so NOT the right attitude when I should be saying God is in control of the situation.

Be Honest and Real

If I can’t be honest with my fellow brothers and sisters, that’s a huge problem. We’re supposed to lift up and encourage one another but instead, I hide behind the facade that all is well with me instead of sharing how difficult it can be for me.

But don’t you just love God’s timing? It’s never late and exactly when we need it the most. My pastor did a sermon Sunday that regardless of our circumstances God is sovereign and he’s in control of all things.

Nothing in your life catches him off guard nor does it surprise him for God sees the beginning, middle, and end and knows how you will react.

Remember Eternity is Your Home

God allows things to come into your lives to mold and form you into the likeness of his son. You may not understand, agree, or like it necessarily but he’s using these things for a reason.

While you are in seasons of difficulty how you handle them can change those around you by watching how you react to the circumstances.

Sadly, most often you run to other things and other people for encouragement instead of running to God! Many times God will not change your circumstances so you are forced to change and you won’t move until God makes you move. I know! OUCH!! Me Too!!

I must agree with that because it’s in those hardest of times I’ve grown the most and I want to be able to say no matter my circumstance is that it is well with me!

When you start to feel down and discouraged you need to remind yourself of the truth that God is in control.

Read the Bible

What little you go through, is nothing in comparison, to what Jesus Christ endured for you! The Apostle Paul suffered tremendously, but he kept His faith knowing he would receive Heaven as his prize!

You know Job’s story of loss and great pain but it was for his good and God’s glory!

God Is In Control Verse

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1

Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. Proverbs 19:21

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. Isaiah 55:8

For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater. Isaiah 55:10

So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:11

An Eternal Prayer For A Weary Heart

Father God, Please help us to see, that we need to rely on one another when we’re feeling weak and weary. Help us know that it’s ok to admit when we need help, instead of trying to carry our burdens alone. Help us to Relax, knowing (YOU) God is in control until we’re at eternity’s gate! In Jesus’s Name.
