6 Ways a Beautiful Soul is Never Forgotten
A Beautiful Soul Is Gone But Never Forgotten

A beautiful soul is gone but never forgotten. Losing a patient you care for and love like family is devastating when they take their final breath on earth even though you expected their time was drawing near. In reality, I don’t think you can truly prepare yourself for when death happens and it can leave you with mixed emotions where you’re both relieved that the suffering is ended yet at the same time you feel sadness they are gone

Not only this but when you lose someone important to you, the immeasurable amount of heartache and pain associated with it can be extremely overwhelming. For me working in oncology, this is something that goes along with it, unfortunately.

There comes a point, however, despite numerous prayers for healing, and fighting a good fight, God plans to call them home even though you aren’t ready to say goodbye.

Gone But Never Forgotten 6 Ways To Cherish A Beautiful Soul

Let me tell you about one of the sweetest ladies I am blessed to know. Her name is Miss Patsy. To be in Patsy’s presence you could not be changed. To know her was to love her she is that special.

Since telling Patsy about my Blog she’s been one of my biggest supporters. When she came to appointments she would tell me “Angie, I love this post better than the last, they just keep getting better and better.”

In the last few weeks, I could tell Miss Patsy was struggling. I will NEVER forget one of our last conversations. Her daughter went to park the car and I helped her to my lab bay as she sat down she said to me, “Angie, I was at Heaven’s door this weekend and what I felt was PURE PEACE and it was amazing.

I was almost home but I suppose God isn’t finished with me yet.” This was said with the biggest smile on her face with tears in her eyes friends. Just thinking about it brings tears to mine.

It was only a few days after this conversation that God called Miss Patsy home to her glorious eternal home. I thought about how I wanted to honor her and keep her memory alive.

I knew I wanted to do a post dedicated to her family, friends, and loved ones. I have 6 ways a beautiful soul is never forgotten and this post, in particular, is for Miss Patsy she had the following…

1. Unwavering Faith Regardless of current Circumstances

  • Message from Heaven:

Let me share with you what I know Miss Patsy would say to you at this very moment if she could. She would say three things.

  1. “Though I breathed my last breath on earth I am more alive than I’ve been!”
  2. “Don’t shed tears for me. Rejoice for I’m in Heaven and finally home!”
  3. Most importantly she would say “GET PREPARED” to meet Jesus!”

More Alive Than Ever!

For born-again believers in Jesus Christ, we have the eternal glorious hope of going to Heaven to be with Jesus. Though we breathe our final breath with our earthly body, our next breath will be in our “new body” therefore becoming more alive than our earthly shell will ever know.

Miss Patsy’s body was ravaged by cancer however, now she’s gained a glorious new body like Christ’s and is no longer suffering or in pain. Just remember our loved ones are always in our hearts.

Shed Happy Tears!

Although grief leads to tears it’s important to remember, that though we miss our loved ones, we will be reunited with ALL who have gone before us in Heaven who are in Christ Jesus. Can you imagine the scene in Heaven when Miss Patsy was welcomed home? Can you say Hallelujah!

Not only will she see God first and foremost, but all those she loves. May we not forget the Apostles, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, the list can go on and on.

Where Is Your Eternal Home?

If you were to breathe your last breath at this very moment would you be prepared to meet Jesus? In all honesty, people think they will have all the time in the world to make things right between themselves and the creator of the Universe.

Sweet friends, we aren’t promised our next breath let alone tomorrow. Don’t put off today what you may not have tomorrow. Your eternal destiny is at stake. Miss Patsy would tell you…Get Prepared!!

The Coming Of The Lord

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

2. Cherish the Memories

The last visit with Miss Patsy was bittersweet. She hugged me a little tighter, a little longer, kissed me on the cheek, and said: “Angie, I Love You girl! I wonder if she sensed that would be our “final goodbye” at least on earth?

With ALL MY HEART I know in my spirit she did, just as I know Michael did too, another patient has gone too soon as well. I have treasured memories forever when I think of them both.

Though I have numerous memories of my time with her this one is the one that will forever stay not far from my heart and bring a smile to my face. Miss Patsy…is and will forever be a beautiful soul who is never forgotten!

3. Give the Family a Memory they will Forever Treasure: Dedicated to Patsy’s Children

When I wrote Treasured Memories another precious patient to me I had no idea his wife had forwarded my dedication post to their pastor.

I wanted to bless the family and I received a bigger blessing. When the Pastor did the eulogy it was practically my entire post. I sat there blubbering like a baby but it was both sad and happy tears.

To begin with, let me explain why I shared Michael’s story. The thing is it’s NOTHING “Angie” did I simply wanted to do something to honor Michael for his family.

Doing this brought not only peace to the family but to the Church congregation as well. My Prayer is that Patsy’s dedication will mean as much to her family and loved ones as it did to Michael’s.

A Mother’s Love For Her Children

I hope these bring you peace and comfort. I often joked with Miss Patsy that since my Mama lived in KY she could be my adopted NC Mom and of course, in her usual manner took that role upon herself.

Few things are as powerful as the bond between a mother and her child. When grieving the loss of a Mother I Pray you will be comforted by words expressing the endless and enduring nature of a Mother’s Love.

From a Phlebotomist’s Heart to Yours: In Loving Memory of Your Mother.

“The mother memories that are closest to my heart are the small gentle ones that I have carried over from the days of my childhood. They are not profound, but they have stayed with me through life, and when I am very old, they will still be near.”

=Margaret Sanger

“There is no death, daughter. People only die when we forget them,” my mother explained shortly before she left me. “If you can remember me, I will be with you always.”

-Isabel Allende

“Mothers hold their children’s hands for a short while, but their hearts forever.”

— Author unknown

“A mother is not a person to lean on but a person to make leaning unnecessary.”

— Dorothy Canfield Fisher

“A man loves his sweetheart the most, his wife the best, but his mother the longest.”

— Irish proverb

“A mother understands what a child does not say.”

— Jewish proverb

“A mom’s hug lasts long after she lets go.”

— Author unknown

4. Display a Poem, Cards, or Photos to Keep their Memory Close to Your Heart.

Having a copy of tangible items close by will remind you that in Christ Jesus Miss Patsy is finally FREE. I have these scattered throughout Miss Patsy’s dedication so you can save, download, and print them as reminders to keep handy when you will need them the most.

I know grief is a process and we ALL handle it differently. However, for me having visual reminders keeps the memories alive of a loved one. My prayer is these will bring comfort and healing.

6. Bible Verses About Peace to Bring Healing and Comfort

The Lord Is My Shepherd

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want, he makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.

He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake, Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows, Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord FOREVER. Psalm 23

Bible verses about faith

I Am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew: 11:28-29

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,  nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

Your Turn
