As Christians, the resurrection of Jesus is the hope you cling to, right? With this in mind, have YOU ever lost a loved one unexpectedly? You know how this feels. You are faced with shock, disbelief, anger, denial, and a sadness so deep you feel it to your core. Do you know the Resurrection of Jesus is your hope? Jesus’ death on the cross was not the end, it was the beginning.

Let’s be honest, what happens when the reality sets in that a loved one who was such a huge part of our lives changes overnight? I’m more than certain this is how the disciples felt when Jesus suddenly left them. In all honesty, the disciples thought Jesus was going to be the “New King” of Israel and save them from the Romans.

Then life, as they knew it dramatically changed overnight when Jesus was murdered. Over 2,000 years ago it seemed as though, in the eyes of the disciples, Jesus had failed them.

However, soon the disciples learn that Jesus has Risen! That said, what does the Resurrection of Jesus mean for you and me?

The Resurrection of Jesus Resurrection Verses

When the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices, so that they might go and anoint him. Mark 16:1

And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb. Mark 16:2

And they were saying to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?” Mark 16:3

And looking up, they saw that the stone had been rolled back—it was very large. Mark 16:4

And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe, and they were alarmed. Mark 16:5

And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him. Mark 16:6

But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going before you to Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.” Mark 16:7

And they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid. Mark 16:8

So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy and ran to tell his disciples. Matthew 28:8

And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. Matthew 28:9

Bible Verses About When Jesus Appears To Mary Magdalene

But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb. John 20:11

And she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. John 20:12

They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.” John 20:13

Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing, but she did not know that it was Jesus. John 20:14

Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” John 20:15

Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher). John 20:16

Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” John 20:17

He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God. Acts 1:3

How Does the Resurrection of Jesus impact YOU as a follower of Jesus?

NOTHING in and of yourself can earn God’s favor. Salvation is NOT through works. You can be the best version of a “good person” (and by the way, there’s no such thing, see verse below) and still not be accepted by God. You MUST accept Jesus Christ alone for salvation.

We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall, and our sins sweep us away like the wind. Isaiah 64:6

If you need HELP understanding the difference read what is the gift of salvation. There’s a BIG difference between religion vs relationship with Jesus Christ and the importance of walking with God.

The Resurrection of Jesus secures believers that YOU are accepted by God

It will be counted to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord,  Romans 4:24

Who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification? Romans 4:25

If you put your faith in Jesus Christ you become justified. To be justified is meaning ALL of our sins are forgiven and forgotten by God through the righteousness of Jesus’ finished work on the cross.

If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:11

You are Heirs to Christ because Jesus has risen

So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. Romans 8:12

For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. Romans 8:13

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. Romans 8:14

Do you know that you no longer have to do what your sinful nature is calling you to do? As a follower of Jesus Christ, you can pray that the Holy Spirit will help you to resist temptations.

Sweet friend, it’s impossible to do this in your strength, you have the power of the living God inside you…JESUS HAS RISEN and His Spirit dwells in YOU so call on Him and His strength when YOU need HELP!

RESURRECTION OF JESUS MEANS RESURRECTION POWER

Followers of Jesus have Security in heaven

Death died when Jesus rose from the grave. Not only this, but the best part for you and me is since Jesus rose, if we are in Him, we too will rise! Glory to God Halleuigh.

For the Christian, you never really die, your physical body gets buried in the ground, however, your soul lives on! When you take your last breath on earth you will take your first breath in Heaven!

You see, for the Christian death is NOT the end of the road it’s just a bend in the road. When Jesus Christ rose from the dead He conquered death once for ALL who will accept Him as Lord and Savior. Check out the following verses.

For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. 1 Corinthians 15:22

But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. 1 Corinthians 15:23

When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” 1 Corinthians 15:54

“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” 1 Corinthians 15:55

After reading these two scriptures you know the tomb is NOT an entrance to death, instead, it’s an entrance to life…If you have accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior.

YOU choose…Heaven or Hell it’s one or the other. Sadly, many do not believe in either place and they are called Atheists. Please reconsider!

Followers of Jesus Secure believers in a new glorified body

Do you struggle with sickness in your life that’s taken its toll on your body? As an oncology phlebotomist, I see my share of hurting cancer patients however, it’s very rewarding and filled with treasured memories.

That said, their bodies go through transformations that in all honesty break my heart. In Christ, God will resurrect believers with a new glorified body…an updated version of themselves! There will be no more sickness or pain. This is something to give God the highest praise for y’all!

When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Colossians 3:4

Follow Jesus and You’ll be reunited with loved ones in heaven

This is a promise we can hold tightly friend. We all have loved ones who have preceded us and have gone to Heaven. Can you imagine this glorious homecoming? To finish where we left off…WHAT A BLESSING! Check out the following verses…

For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. 1 Thessalonians 4:14

For this, we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. 1 Thessalonians 4:15

For the Lord, himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 1 Thessalonians 4:16

Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:17

Therefore encourage one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:18

JESUS HAS RISEN

Jesus has risen from the grave

This is called the Great Commission. More often than not we assume this is for our preachers, missionaries, elders…etc. However, this is a command to ALL Christians, aka…followers of Jesus.

To share the gospel means to verbally tell others the message of the gospel. How do you do this? Below is a shortened condensed version.

  • Jesus Loves You.
  • You are separated by God due to Your sin.
  • Jesus Christ died for Your sin and rose again from the grave.
  • If you turn from Your sin and believe in Christ Jesus You can know without a shadow of a doubt you will go to Heaven when You die.
  • Making disciples, simply stated is helping someone get on their feet spiritually.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19

Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20

And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Mark 16:15

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. Mark 16:16

And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name, they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues. Mark 16:17

They will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:18

So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. Mark 16:19

And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by accompanying signs. Mark 16:20
